May 2011 Meeting Reflections (12KB)

Christian Meditation

How to meditate.

Sit down.  Sit still and upright.  Close your eyes lightly.  Sit relaxed but alert.  Silently, interiorly begin to say a single word.  We recommend the prayer-phrase, “Maranatha”.  Recite it as four syllables of equal length.  Listen to it as you say it, gently but continuously.  Do not think or imagine anything spiritual or otherwise.  If thoughts and images come, these are distractions at the time of meditation, so keep returning to simply saying the word.  The ideal is to meditate each morning and evening for between 20 and 30 minutes.  We meet at the Parish House Wed 9.10am & 7.30 pm, Fri 9.10am.  Everyone welcome.

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)

RCIA is a gradual process of initiation into the faith and community life of the Catholic Church.  It is a way in which inquirers are sensitively and gently assisted on their journey through periods of enquiry, teaching, prayers and ritual into joyful initiation into our faith at Easter.

RCIA requires widespread involvement from the parish community who in many and varied ways, minister to and share their faith with the inquirers.

All parishioners have God-given talents and gifts that could be shared through RCIA.

If you are interested in undertaking the RCIA program contact: Fr Stephen on 3357 6058.
